Iyanha Christman, a third grader at Rochester NY School #41, got a ride to school this week courtesy of the Rochester Fire Department. Iyanha won the random drawing in the annual Prevention 1st Home Fire Drill poster contest. She and her sister were picked up at their home on Genesee Park Blvd and dropped off at School #41.
Iyanha submitted a poster encouraging people to check their smoke alarms for her art class, led by School #41 teacher Amy Graham. She was chosen in a random drawing for the ride, made possible by the support of the Rochester Fire Department. Other poster contest winners, one from School #1 and another student from School #41, were treated to lunch at two fire houses over the past few months. Our thanks to firefighters Al Miles and Steve Morgan for giving Iyanha her ride, and to the Rochester Fire Department which has supported the Home Fire Drill poster contest for the past several years.
